What is Respite?

Respite means "a period of rest or relief." Respite events provide parents or caregivers a temporary relief from the responsibilities of caring for individuals with disabilities.

Respite events

Our goal is to provide a monthly event that both parents and children look forward to! We want to provide parents with the gift of time and rest. Your children will be given 1-on-1 attention from a personal buddy and get to be included in activities that are tailored to meet their needs. Our adult participants will have the opportunity to engage in fellowship in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Our volunteers

We have a team of volunteers from Freedom Fellowships that are trained and equipped to serve individuals with disabilities. Several of our volunteers have attended Joni and Friends Family Retreats. Additionally, many have a background in education, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and we have a nurse present at every event.

How to get involved

Families

These events are for individuals with disabilities as well as their typically-developing siblings. Parents what will you do with your time? A date with your spouse, kid-free errands, go home and nap, or stay and relax in our coffee shop!

Volunteers

This ministry cannot run without our amazing volunteers. Our roles include Hospitality Team, Activity Team, and Buddy Team. Volunteers must arrive 1 hour prior to the start of the event and stay until clean up is finished.
